Cookie policy
We only use storage that the app needs to work. We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. You can choose whether we remember your help chat, and change that at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page.
1. What we store on your device
Cookies and similar technologies such as local storage are small pieces of data kept in your browser. Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 we may use ones that are strictly necessary to give you a service you have asked for without asking for consent. These are the only ones we use:
- Sign-in session. Stored by our sign-in provider, Supabase, so you stay signed in as you move between pages. Kept until you sign out or it expires.
- Welcome message flag. A small note that says you have already seen the welcome screen, so it only shows once. Kept until you clear your browser data.
- Your cookie choice. Remembers the choice you made on the cookie banner so we do not ask again. Kept until you clear your browser data.
With your consent, and only if you choose it, we also store one optional item:
- Help chat history (optional, off by default). If you press Accept all, or tick “Remember my help chat” in Cookie settings, the questions you type into the help assistant and our automated answers are kept on your device so the conversation is there next time. It never leaves your device, and untick the option or press Clear chat to delete it.
2. What other companies receive when you visit
When your browser loads parts of our site from other companies, they receive your IP address and device details, as they would from any website that does this:
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces we use.
- jsDelivr supplies a code library the app needs to talk to our database.
- Supabase holds the database, sign-in and photos.
- postcodes.io receives the postcode you type when you search or post, so it can find the location.
- Stripe runs the checkout page when you pay for a plan. Stripe sets its own cookies on its own page, covered by its privacy and cookie notices.
3. Controlling storage
You can clear or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings. If you block the sign-in session you will not be able to stay signed in.
4. Changes
The help assistant gives automated answers using a fixed set of pages and runs in your browser. It does not send what you type to us or to any other company. If you want a person, email us.
If we ever add analytics or advertising we will update this page and ask for your consent first, as the law requires.
